Nine Patch Quilt

My first quilt!

This quilt is in the nine patch pattern. The middle block is beige, and the 2 outside blocks are solid pink and beige floral.

The back is solid pink and I quilted this with the "stitch in the ditch" technique.

It won Honorable Mention for bed size quilts at the 2005 North Florida Fair.

Quilt Lessons Sampler

This quilt was made through the lessons on http://www.sew-whats-new.com

The colors were not really thought about as them having to all go together. I only realized that when it got near the end, and it was too late by then.

I found some fabric for my backing and sashing that had all the colors I had used in the blocks so it pulled it together:) It was tied.

Approx. 42" x 56"

Sewing Notions Jar Quilt

This quilt came about after I was in a sewing notion fabric swap. I loved the fabrics I received and decided to do a little jar quilt to hang in my sewing room.

I used black to do the sashing, borders and backing so the jar fabrics really pop out.

4th of July Panel

This cute little panel that celebrates 4th of July was quilted on the lines of the design. The back is a print of fireworks like in the panel design.

I added loops on the top so I can hang it up come celebration time:)

Star 9 Patch Quilt

This quilt is made of 4 12" star blocks and 5 solid black blocks arranged in a 9 patch.

The star blocks were part of a BOM set that I ordered to get free shipping on a large item:)

I used variegated thread to do outline quilting on the star blocks. I quilted squares inside of squares for the four outside black blocks. The inside block I did a funky star pattern. Click on the second picture for a close up of that.

The back of this quilt has a very geometric feel because I used solid black so the colored thread really pops. I did a big zigzag type pattern for the borders.

This quilt was displayed at the Peace by Piecing Quilt Show 2002.

Approx. 40 1/2" x 40 1/2"

Amish Colored Bowtie Quilt

These bowtie blocks were part of an Amish Colored Bowtie block swap...each block was 8 inches and has a solid bowtie with a black background.

I arranged them in a zigzag pattern and quilted inside each bowtie and the black spaces with invisible thread and the backside has variegated purple thread.

I made a 2" border with 2" squares, thanks to Wendy, the block hostess, for this idea as she sent several squares to each swapper:)

This quilt was displayed at the Peace by Piecing Quilt Show 2002.  It won third place in juvenile quilts at the 2005 North Florida Fair.

Flannel Rag Quilt

I saw a picture of a rag quilt and wanted to make a little one for when I get cold and I'm in the computer room...I had some solid butterscotch flannel, but not enough to make a big enough quilt, so I cut up some scraps of blue solid flannel...I didn't have enough to make a design so I just sewed them together in which ever way:) I think it is adorable and it's really warm!

One of our dogs has decided that this flannel throw is the best...isn't she cute all cuddled up!

Approx. 50" x 55"

Springtime Sampler Block Swap Quilt

I participated in a swap with 11 other ladies. We made 12 6" blocks and swapped them with each other. They are a great mix of patterns and colors. I set them in solid lilac and the backing is the same. I tied it with lilac floss. I think it's very cheery and bright:)

Approx. 27" x 20"

Finished 7/01.

Christmas Rail Fence

This is a little quilt, about 19" x 19".

The red, green and gold fabrics were in the remnant bin. I thought this design really accentuated them and I added a cream fabric that has gold glitter on it. Really makes you feel like signing Christmas Carols.

I tied this little one with gold metallic floss, so the back looks pretty neat also:)

Mariner's Compass Little Quilt

An online friend showed be a pic of this block. She was making it as part of a swap, and I asked if she would swap it with me:) I truly love this block and the colors are fabulous, not to mention the workmanship! Thanks so much Debbie!!

I received the border and backing fabric in a FQ swap...I thought it went perfectly with the block. I stitched in the ditch with invisible thread on top and an iridescent purple/green thread on bottom...click on the second pic to see the back!

Pink and Blue Rail Fence Quilt

These blocks came from a Rail fence block swap...each month had a different color theme...I participated in the pink and blue months.

I stipple quilted this little quilt...makes it feel nice and heavy, what I always thought a quilt would feel like when I thought of learning to quilt!

Lap Quilt Swap

I was a last minute replacement for a Lap Quilt Block Swap. Each lady picked the colors she wanted her blocks to be made of and each swapper made everyone (9) a block. I love the Amish theme the lady I replaced picked.

I stippled the quilt. Makes it feel nice!

Heart Block Quilt

This was the first quilt I hand quilted. It took several months for me to finish it.

Each of the 5 heart blocks came from a hand dyed or batik heart block swap. I added the 4 plain blocks of white on white fabric with a heart print.

I stitched in the ditch of the seams, around each of the hearts and in the plain blocks I quilted four hearts in the corners and a little one in the middle.

Approx. 24" x 24"

Scattered Rose Petals

This little quilt is made out of different colors of the same print, roses.

They were sample swatches, and I loved them, I decided to do a Trip Around the World. Well...I didn't have enough to really do a TATW, so I improvised:)

Kinda cute, don't cha think?
